State Capitol:
Ohio became a state in 1803. Columbus, Ohio was founded in 1812
with the intention of being Ohio's capital. The construction on the
current capitol proceded slowly between 1839 and 1861. In 1857 construction was
far enough along to allow the legislature to hold its first session
in this capitol. |

William McKinley Memorial
McKinley was the 25th President of the U.S. His term began in 1897, in
1901 he was assinated. |

State Office Tower in Background

Veterans' Plaza Wall
Two curved walls exist on the Capitol grounds north side. These walls contained
inscribed messages from Armed Forces members to friends, relatives or loved ones.
