State Capitol
Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes, has 11,842 lakes of more than
10 acres in size. Minnesota entered the Union in 1858; Saint Paul
has been the only capital . This is the third state capitol
building and was completed in 1905. |

Quadriga
This sculpture is at the base of the dome and consists of
a man in a chariot (Properity), two women (Industry and Agriculture)
and four horses (the elements: Earth, Fire, Water and Air).
The items in parenthesis are what the figures represent. |

Roy Wilkins Memorial "Spiral for Justice"
Wilkins was a St. Paul native and associated with the National
Association for the Advancement for Colored People (NAACP);
over twenty years as the organization's chief executive. The
organization's work led to passage of the Civil Rights Acts of
1957, 1960 and 1964. |

Charles A. Lindbergh Memorial
Lindberg was born in Detroit, Michigan but grew up in
Minnesota. The memorial depicts Lindbergh as a
child dreaming of flying and as an adult having
accomplished the first solo non-stop flight across
the Atlantic Ocean, May 20-21, 1927. |

Women's Suffrage Memorial
The living-organic garden (if my visit would have been
timed better) uses native plants surrounding a woven metal
trellis timeline that documents the people and events around
the movement to gain women the right to vote. |

Korean War Memorial
The soldier moves towards a silhouette of a soldier
representing the missing in action. The names of
Minnesotans killed in the war are listed on stone
markers in the back. |

Liberty Bell:
The United States Department of the Treasury had 55 full-sized
replicas of the Liberty Bell casted One for each state and
territory. The first eight states visited had their replicas on
display; then only one of the next nine states had theirs
displayed. Minnesota was the first of three in a row that had
theirs displayed. ("Displayed" means it was someplace where I
could see it.) |

Antique Table/Desk in Governor's Office
This table was designed and created specifically for the
Governor's Office when the Capitol was built. It has since
been retired from service but still resides in the office. |

Senate Chambers
Minnesota has 67 voting districts. One senator is elected from
each district.

The House of Representatives
Two representives are elected from each of the 67 districts.

Supreme Court
A Minnesota Supreme Court is made up of seven justices. Even
though there is a judicial building the Court sessions are
still held here. |
