State Capitol
One of the 13 original colonies. Fourth state to declare its
independence from British rule in Jan., 1776. Savannah was the
first capital. Between 1776 and 1868, capital moved from Savannah
to Augusta to Louisville to Milledgeville. Atlanta has been
the capital since 1868. The current Capitol originally
completed in 1889. In 1956 the dome was gilded with native gold
donated by private citizens. In 1981, it was re-gilded. |

Judicial Building
Behind the bench of the Supreme Court is the inscription:
"Fiat justitia ruat caelum", it means "May justice prevail
though the heavens fall". |

Liberty Bell:
The United States Department of the Treasury selected a
foundry in France to cast 55 full-sized replicas of the
Liberty Bell. States and territories of the United States
each received a bell as a gift to be displayed and rung
on special occasions. |
