The Canaveral National Seashore is a National Seashore located between New Smyrna Beach and Titusville, Fl.
It is located on a barrier island, occupies 58,000 acres and was created in 1975. The park's 24-mile-long beach
is the longest undeveloped beach on the east coast of the state. The southern part is known as Playalinda Beach,
the middle section as Klondike Beach, and the northern section as Apollo Beach. The seashore is just north
of the Kennedy Space Center.
The rocket launching stands of Kennedy Space Center are visible to the south of the seashore's entrance near
Titusville, Fl. In the 1960's NASA acquired the land for the space center and much that surrounded it. The
surrounding area is a safety and security zone. NASA offically controls this area but the Department of Interior
manages it. Merrit Island National Refuge and the Canaveral National Seashore is within this area.

Playalinda Beach being put to use. A road goes a few miles along the coast of this beach.
Klondike Beach has no public access by road. At points it may only be 100 yards wide.
Mosquito Lagoon is between the barrier island and the main land. This little cove is called Eddy Creek. Why
it's referred to as a creek was not explained. A sign states that William Bartram explored this area in the
1760's and discovered the tropical Zebra Butterfly.

Some type of heron along the lagoon.
Shore at Apollo Beach. It takes some time to drive from Playalinda Beach to Apollo Beach. One has to back track
to Titusville then go north to New Symrna Beach and then south along the beach. The public access road goes along
Apollo Beach. Klondike Beach is not accessible by road.
A Willet enjoys the surf.
Along the Playalinda Beach the barrier island was covered mainly with mangroves.
Along Apollo Beach the island is covered mainly with Palmettos.
One portion of the beach had numerous sea shells. This is one.

Eldora Village existed in the Apollo Beach area in the late 1800's. It was a typical village along
the coast. It consisted of 100 citizens or so at its height. A trail leading to Eldora's State House.
Eldora's State House is a renovated building that was a two story residence and is now a museum.
On the night before visiting Canaveral Seashore I checked into a motel and mentioned where I was headed.
The clerk mentioned something about a nudist beach there; I responded: at a national beach? She said that was what
she had heard. On the way to Playalinda Beach, I saw signs stating all county ordinances applied to the site.
At the beach the parking areas were lightly populated except the last one, it was completely filled. I assumed
there was truth to her comment. No parking spots so I didn't check it out. But at Apollo Beach the same situation
except there was one parking spot open. I walked to the top of the walkway to be beach and took at few pics. This is
one with six blacken areas added. Later on the internet, it stated that the park rangers didn't have enough personnel
to enforce the county laws; so, if you're a nudist you can feel safe. I'm not and did not test the saftiness.
