Yazoo: Vicksburg Area

Closing in on the mouth of the Yazoo. About ten miles from Natchez is the last bridge across the river.
U.S. Highway 61 crosses it here. An abundance of water is flowing this spring.

Kings Point ferry. A ferry was not expected to be seen but, after looking at a map, I see there is a penisula
formed by the Mississippi and Yazoo rivers. The land is only accessible by the ferry, the land is probably farm land.

The Old Court House Museum completed in 1860 as the courthouse for Warren County. In 1939 a new courthouse was built
and in 1948 this building was opened as a museum.

Old railroad depot along the banks of the Yazoo.

Murals are painted all along a flood wall; the murals depict the historical events of Vicksburg. This one caught my eye.
Always associated the beginnings of Coca-Cola with Atlanta, but the actual bottling of Coca-Cola seems to have
begun in Vicksburg by Joseph Biedenharn. In 1894 he put the beverage in bottles and delivered them to rural areas.

Just north of the visitors center from a scenic turnout the Yazoo can be seen entering the Mississippi River from the right.
