Atchafalaya River 2

On the way to the Welcome Center at I-10 I spotted a path that I thought may take me
to the river. After walking
a half mile or so, the path ended but as I walked I saw glimpses of water through
the trees at times.
At one point the trees and undergrowth lessened enought to allow me to get to the
water's edge.
View of Lake Henderson between the I-10 spans near the Atchafalaya Welcome Center.
The Atchafalaya River Basin not only has the river but also lakes, streams, bayous
and
whatever other type of water body there is. Especially, south of I-10.
Butte La Rosa, a small community south of I-10, is where this one-lane bridge was
spotted. I thought
this may be the river but it wasn't.
Also, this body of water is not the river.
But across the road and south a bit, this is a view of the river at a boat launch.
There's probably roads and views of the river between the above spot and Morgan
City but I'm not sure
how to find them. My map didn't show anything. This is the U.S. 90 bridge across
the river.
Just south of the above bridge is this railroad bridge in the up position for
river traffic to pass through.
At first I thought this was the beginning of a bay that is part of the Gulf of
Mexico. But the river splits
and probably re-unites before forming the Atchafalaya Bay several miles southwest
of this location.
This is the left channel seen from the previous spot. Several business are on
this branch downstream
but no spot for viewing. My views of the Atchafalaya River, good-bye.
