Upper Mississippi Natural Wildlife and Fish Refuge
View from a scenic turnout along Highway 26 near Brownsville, Mn.
The white dots on the water are swans.

Winona as viewed from Sugar Loaf Bluff. An old Indian legend states
this bluff and Barn Bluff at Red Wing, Mn were one mountain many many years ago.
To settle continous quarrelling between two tribes, the Great Spirit split the
mountain and sent this bluff down river for one of the tribes to reside on.

National Eagle Center in Wabasha, Mn.

Swans on display in the center.

Angela, one of the bald eagles residing at the center. A young lady named her
in a contest. The handlers say that if they would have named her, she would not have
an angelic name.

Red Wing, Mn - Not impressed with the picture but this area was settled
as an agriculture area so why not show grain elevators along the river and railroad
track. Plus, Barn Bluff is in the background.

The old railroad depot is now a art and culture center. But the really nice thing
about Red Wing is that I filled up my truck with gas and received a 3 cent a gallon
discount just for being old.

Hastings, Mn is just down river from the confluence of the St. Croix and
Mississippi Rivers. A view of a portion of downtown.

Railroad bridge across the river viewed from Hastings Riverwalk.

While walking along the riverwalk a plaque stating a bridge with a spiral entrance
once existed here. Later this mural was spotted downtown.
